The light of Luna’s fullness is especially bright during this season of long nights. There is inspiration to receive from this moment. Sparks of insight and twinkles of ideas shimmer in the darkness of this time, and invite our attention to dance with the power of imagination. Muse is the archetype of the full moon in Gemini. The queen of creativity shines through the moon’s radiance, and asks that we keep on changing, carve new pathways, innovate and reinvent ourselves, follow the flutter of our visionary wings.
Gemini is the archetype of the busy mind, the fickle nature of inspiration, the thirst for conversation, and the hunger to be everywhere and meet everyone and experience everything. Curiosity pulls the Gemini spirit in many directions, and being pinned down and committed to one thing is like a prison to them.
When the moon is full in Gemini, the sun and the centaur gallop together further and further south before it shifts directions to climb back up again. The wisdom of Sagittarius guides the way toward the season’s transition. Gemini follows inspiration, and Sagittarius loves to go on adventures. As they meet each other through the moon and the sun, through radiance and reflection, they enjoy a conversation steeped in philosophy and fantasy.
Sagittarius reminds us to question things. While this zodiac sign is often associated with religion, the wisdom of their character can rip to shreds the stagnation and rigidity of faith. They go deeper than dogma, and refuse to stick to one answer. They see that the horizon of our ignorance grows the more we know. Questions are their love language.
Questions fill the mercurial mind of Gemini too, so when these two meet, it’s a quest fest. Sagittarius will take their time to go wide and deep, and Gemini will keep moving around, on to the next thing, but belief might leave an imprint in their minds as they hop from one experience to another. Sagittarius will poke holes in those belief imprints.
Gemini tells stories, shares thoughts, and generates ideas. There is so much to explore in the world, and gemini feels anxious to learn more and experience more. Holiday party hopping on a full moon night? Hell yeah!
The seeking spirit of this archetype is sometimes associated with their zodiac identity of the twins. When you meet a Gemini you don’t know which side of their personality is going to greet you. We all have many sides, but this is the archetype of two distinct identities wrapped in one. And at the same time, Gemini is also the part of us that feels like something is missing, like there is someone else who is a part of you, but you don’t know where they are, and so you’re always looking for them.
The twins move as duality and as a unit, as contradiction and connection, as longing and belonging. They complete each other and they compete with one another. They are night and day, yes and no, attraction and aversion, inhale and exhale.
As we breathe with the moon’s fullness, we wander in a world of words. Gemini loves to speak, to share, to express. And that missing piece, the other side, the long lost twin wants to listen. When the sun is in Gemini, the northern hemisphere is nearing the Summer solstice, the peak power of external expression. When the moon is full in Gemini it’s almost the Winter solstice, and the journey inwards reaches its pinnacle point. Gemini teaches us that reality doesn’t only contain polar opposites, it is created by forces pulling in opposite directions.
Two things that emerge out of one, diversify and multiply. Many things together make something what it is. An idea becomes words spoken that become a form made. A form ignites a vision that becomes an expression that shapes itself into existence. Existence enchanting mind becomes articulation unfolding into reality. One thing is expressed through duality, becoming plurality, coalescing into new forms as a form breaks down and falls apart. One thing is always made of many.
What parts of you are you meeting in the fullness of this moon? What feels like contradiction may be the very core of something true.
The Gemini archetype may want to resolve the dual nature of existence, the relativity of reality, the plurality of truth. But ambiguity can be the very breath of wisdom in a day and age so saturated with extremism and lack of nuance.
On this beautiful full moon in Gemini, we can visit the pieces that feel conflicting and in contradiction within ourselves and in our lives, and listen to the way that things don’t necessarily add up. Can we receive the paradox? Can we live with dichotomy? Can we learn that the discomfort of complexity carves a path of questions that open up doorwars into deeper wisdom?
Where is this meeting you in your life right now? Let us know in the comments below.

IN PERSON in LA – Winter Solstice Somatic Ceremony –
Saturday December 21st – 2pm-5pm
The sunset on the Winter Solstice is a potent portal of endings and beginnings, a pause filled with potential, a space that invites body, mind, heart, and creative power to join the cosmos in shedding old skins and ushering in sparks of new possibilities. We’ll gather on the beach for a magical, transformative event that will ignite inspiration and help you weave the moment with meaning. We will thread mythology into movement, contemplate, journal, breathe, and connect to the wind, the sand, the waves, and one another.
Cut ties with the things that weigh you down. Burn the bullshit away. Dissolve the things you’re not taking with you into the new year in the salty waters of the ocean. And make room for soft new possibilities to be born in the dark, and to meet your feet where the waves meet the shore.
Give yourself the gift of joining the earth and the sun in this primordial dance of death and rebirth, of release, receptivity, and renewal, of the darkness swallowing the light, digesting it, and regenerating it.
If you are looking for a powerful way to honor the liminal space of this seasonal shift, to collect beautiful pieces of wisdom from this year so that you can bring them into the new year and support your inner work as well as your relationships and work in the world, to deepen your connection with nature, and to involve every part of you in this mythic adventure by the ocean, please join us!
