New Moon In Aries – Solar Eclipse

Aries begins a new astrological cycle. They initiate another spin through the circle of zodiac archetypes. The new moon in Aries is an opportunity to spark something new, to ignite an inspired inquiry, to begin a beautiful body of work, to stop stopping yourself and go for that vision you’ve been incubating.

Spring arrives with Aries. As we begin a new season and a new lunar cycle with this zesty archetype, we are called to join nature’s dance of renewal, rebirth, and resurrection, and layer the spirit of revitalization over all the phases, weaving it through a spark within emptiness, a process of filling, a peak, a process of release, an undoing, all the way into emptiness again.

What would it feel like to bring the eros – the passion, desire, pleasure, life filled energy – of Spring not only into moments of new beginning, but to carry it into the whole lunation? What does Spring feel like through the emptying process of a waning moon? How would Spring speak through the dark moon at the end of the cycle? What could freshness bring to a mature place?

Contemplating a whole process with this zodiac sign on the new moon is a deep way to bring the Aries archetype into wholeness. This new moon is also a solar eclipse. An eclipse in any sign is an invitation to look at the ways the shadow of the archetype dances through us, our lives, and the world around us. Learning about our shadow, learning to receive it, to work with it, to speak to it, and to recognize it is important for our relationship with ourselves and with others. Integrating our shadow is a necessary process on a journey of soulful engagement and maturity.

Are there any lessons you have undergone during the dark times of Winter that you need to weave into who you are becoming this Spring?

This zodiac initiator loves to start things, but following through and completing something is not where Aries shines. That’s not their role. And yet the shadow of the eclipse invites us to touch upon the very weakness of the archetype, and weave it into the story in a way that helps us see more, understand more, and learn more deeply. What would it be like to bring the dynamic energy of a new beginning into the fullness of an experience, all the way through to the end? What would it feel like to bring a pioneering spirit to the process of emptying out and releasing the parts that must be shed? What could be born when we bring a creative spark into a period of dissolution?

The new moon in Aries invites us to become the energy of Spring itself, to enchant the world with glowing sunlight and growing plants, to bring from within us the ideas that took their time to germinate beneath the surface during winter, to listen to birdsong and join the symphony of creatures creating.

What is coming at you in your life? What must you face head on right now? And how do you want to show up to it? Who do you want/need to develop into in order to meet what’s coming your way?

What would you like to invite out of your own depth to rise toward the sun?

What have you imagined and envisioned lately, that you are ready to start to flesh out?

You might not feel ready. You might think there’s more to learn and more to do and more to plan and more to figure out before you go for it. And you know what, you might be right. There’s always more to learn, more to plan, more to do, more to figure out. We never really feel fully ready. And at some point you gotta just jump in and start swimming. We need to keep learning and expanding our knowledge and not rush. But we also need Aries’ chutzpah and the courage of their heart. At some point we need to lead the way into the unknown.

This is an archetype of leadership. Aries season, and a lunation that starts with this fire starter energy, is a call to act as the leader of our own lives. What are some of the most important qualities you want to see in yourself as a leader? What do you need to work on in order to cultivate those parts of yourself?

Looking at the shadow of the leader is important, and it isn’t hard to see when we look at the stage of world leaders. We don’t really want to look at ourselves and see where we hold some of those Trump like qualities. YUCK! That’s not fun! But the aversion and disgust that we feel toward the Trumps Natenyahus of this world, the fascists, the dictators, the liars, might be exactly where we need to do some work with pieces of ourselves that we really don’t want to see. The unconscious is where we are not in control, and the unconscious is the showrunner of our lives.

Being in charge, not being in charge, leadership, sovereignty, and how we direct the movie of our lives might be interesting areas of shadow to shine our light onto right now. So much to discover…

Aries rises to meet whatever comes their way with the strong body and spirit of the ram.

Collectively, a lot is coming our way. And the overwhelm we feel is real. Aries might be a precious medicine for us right now. She is not afraid to speak up. She launches herself into motion. Sure, there’s a shadow here, because she doesn’t think about it too much when she just goes for it, but it’s also an important tool to include in our belt. We need to know how to throw ourselves into action, into the world, into an experience.

We need to pay attention and to slow down too. We need to be deliberate and considerate and thoughtful. Of course we do! But a good portion of the Aries potion of enthusiasm, boldness, and capacity to follow impulse is needed. Where do you need it most right now? Bring this precious tincture everywhere with you this month. Apply wisely.

There’s a bit of a warrior energy to this archetype. The shadow of conflict and war is cast by this ram’s horns. But so is the shadow of not fighting, not showing up, staying neutral. Neutrality is never neutral. The Bhagavad Gita teaches us that non-action is a kind of action. If you do nothing, something will happen. So what do you need to do? Aries is ready for a fight. And so this new moon asks us to ponder what’s worth the fight? What must we stand for? And it also asks that we choose carefully how we fight, who we become through the battle, and how we can turn conflict into collaboration.

Our association with conflict is usually negative, but there’s something deeply wise that emerges when we learn how to contradict our own thinking process sometimes, when we bring a counter argument to a limiting belief, when we don’t just follow one way, but bring contrast to the picture.

Aries is the part of us that cultivates confidence, carves new pathways, shows up with curiosity, and leads the way into whatever life demands of us with an enchanting, energetic force. Spend some time with this bold and dynamic part of you on this new moon, or with the places where courage, passion, and determination flow abundantly in your life. Contemplate and take action to direct the flow toward the places where there’s fear, numbness, indifference, and lack of willpower.

May this new moon in Aries bring you the strength, enthusiasm, and pioneering power that you need in your life right now, and that the world needs of you. Dare to imagine! Brave the challenges! Rise and lead the life of your dreams!

Have a meaningful new moon.

With love,

Hagar
