New Moon In Taurus – The Pleasure Of Life

April 26, 2025

by Hagar Harpak

Oh Taurus! Deep earth lover. Wild flower child. Flavorful experience of being embodied. Intoxicating scent of Spring’s spirit. Beholding beauty as the eyes drink in the sight of sky and soil and skin. Skin touches the air with heightened awareness, awakened by breeze, by moisture, by breath. It’s a new moon in Taurus, and the senses are alive with the eros of this archetype.

The earth is strong and sensitive and sensual when Taurus arrives with her horns and her milk, resting on a shell, emerging from the vast liquidity of possibilities, from the spark of new beginning, becoming the form of our desires, embodying the urge to live as the need for pleasure and joy and beauty.

Taurus wants to love life, even when it means feeling the intensity of existence, to fill it with glory and glamour, to give shape to a delicious thought, to ground the dream into reality, to bring the idea into the body, to bathe in rose water, to crawl slowly naked on mossy, moist rocks, to walk barefoot on sandy beaches and forest floors, to feel it all, to dim the light and feed you strawberries dipped in chocolate with her own mouth, to stare at the stars on a dark night and feel the earth under her, holding her close.

When Taurus season arrives, the earth is putting on a green gown, sending weeds in all directions. She sings in the language of blossoms, and buzzes in insect tones. She makes it easy to fall in love, to rise like flames of lust, to linger in the spaces where everything feels alive, to make more life.

She is the generosity of the earth; generating life, supporting growth, sharing resources, offering all that she is. Her creativity is the cultivation of great conversation and wild expansion of possibilities.

And speaking of generosity, if you find this interesting in any way, evocative, thought provoking, or stimulating somehow, please share it with your loved ones. You have no idea how helpful and generous that is, so thank you for the love and thank you for supporting my work in this way.

The Taurus archetype wants closeness, intimacy, connection. Physical touch is how they want it done. She wants you to paint her body with a brush dipped in honey, because that will make her feel your relationship is art and food and fertility. She wants flowers in her hair because then her head will be a garden of love for the hummingbird to visit. An abundance of affection pours out of her, and she wants it to flow into her too. She cares about reciprocity.

She has patience. She’s not in a rush. There’s trust in the rhythms of life, in the natural pulse of the heart and the ocean, in the ways of the earth who takes her time. Taurus teaches us that everything has its season. And she wants us to relish the moment, to lick it slowly, to let it drip as you sip on the nectar of it.

Taurus is the love of life and the supportive, nourishing currents that help life grow. Think of the season we’re in (in the Northern Hemisphere). Life is growing all around us. Plants are showing us how life wants to live. Taurus season takes us into and through the peak of Spring, the moment when the season reaches its pinnacle point. It doesn’t get more Spring than Taurus.

This new moon invites us to find pleasure, to deepen our relationships, to linger on the things that bring us joy, to lean into love. Love and joy and pleasure help life grow, and Taurus wears her gardener’s hat as she moves her body between her beloved plants, pouring liquid love out of her watering can.

Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus, named after the goddess of love and beauty and fertility. Venus is the Roman version of the Greek Aphrodite. She is the personification of eroticism. The fountain of youth bubbles and flows in her garden. She is the power of life and the capacity to create it. Her body is a sanctuary of erotic ecstasy. She is an irresistible attraction. Aphrodite has many lovers and gives birth to many children. She is the well of life, the resourcefulness we generate deep within, the flow of our desire and our capacity to bring into form what we care for.

The new moon in Taurus pulls us into the fountain of our inner resources, into our queenly power, into our ability to enjoy where we are and to make things come to life. Taurus is the part of us that can focus deeply, grow roots, and ground into who we are with confidence and warmth and generosity. She’s our strength and steadfastness, the energy of reliability, and our ability to commit, to have the patience for slow and steady growth, to follow through, to trust the process

As you read these words, you might feel deeply connected and anchored in these parts of you. Or you may feel as distant from this archetype as one can imagine. The new moon in Taurus can be an opportunity to spark a relationship with the Aphrodite in you, to start some romance with the queen of pleasure. How would you call her in if you feel far away from her? How will you invoke her if she seems like a far away dream?

It could be as simple as leaning your back against a beautiful tree and breathing slowly, allowing your skin to feel the bark, your ears to hear the rustling of wind in the leaves, your nose to receive the scent of dirt beneath your feet. You can take off your shoes, allowing the soles of your feet to receive the touch of soil.

If you have a hard time turning on the Taurus vibe, you can put together a yummy, healthy meal (or let someone else cook for you) and have a nice glass of wine. She’ll be right there in the flavors. Listen to music you think is beautiful. Wear something that feels good on your skin, or looks good in the mirror. Reach out to someone you love. She will be right there in that space of connection and care.

Prompts you can play with on this new moon:

  • What turns you on?
  • What makes you feel most grounded and connected?
  • How do you experience intimacy?
  • What makes you feel most embodied?
  • What enchants the experience of embodiment?
  • What’s blooming in your life right now?
  • What’s blossoming in your inner worlds?

P.S – The Mudra (hand gesture) in the image of this essay is Prithivi Mudra – the Mudra of the earth. Try practicing it when you need to get grounded, when you want to feel more connected to nature, when you want to anchor into the season, when you need to remember that you are part of this gorgeous planet.
